Reducing Youth Homelessness
Vision: To prevent and reduce the rates of youth homelessness by providing safe, stable, and supportive housing options, as well as a range of services that address the root causes of homelessness.
Action: Offering emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, and long-term housing solutions. Additionally, providing youth with the tools to become financially independent, gain employment, and secure stable housing can be crucial. The aim is to create an environment where young people can escape the cycle of homelessness, experience stability, and build a brighter future.
Focusing on Pain-Based Behaviours
Vision: To understand and address the underlying emotional, psychological, and trauma-related pain that many young people carry, which often manifests as challenging behaviours.
Action: Youth who experience trauma, abuse, neglect, or instability often develop coping mechanisms, such as anger, withdrawal, or other negative behaviours. By focusing on pain-based behaviours, Young Leaders Youth Services seeks to address the root causes of these behaviours, not just the symptoms. This might include offering therapy or counseling services, trauma-informed care, and emotional support programs to help youth process their experiences, heal, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
Vision:
To engage with the youth justice system in a way that provides alternatives to incarceration and ensures young people have the chance to reform, heal, and reintegrate into society positively.
Action:
Many youths who experience homelessness or trauma become involved in the youth justice system. By connecting with youth justice, with Young Leaders Youth Services can help redirect young people away from punitive measures and provide rehabilitative and restorative options. This could involve offering diversion programs, restorative justice initiatives, mentorship, and skills training to help youth avoid criminal behavior and reintegrate into society as productive individuals.
Vision:
To create meaningful, sustainable change in the lives of at-risk youth by providing them with a comprehensive support system that meets their physical, emotional, educational, and social needs.
Action:
Providing services means offering a holistic approach that addresses not only immediate needs (such as food, shelter, and safety) but also long-term solutions (such as education, job training, mental health support, and life skills development). Your organisation can offer a range of services, including case management, family counseling, career readiness programs, mentorship, and peer support groups, all aimed at helping young people overcome barriers and achieve long-term success.
