At Young Leaders Youth Services (YLYS), we specialise in providing tailored one-on-one mentoring for young people living in Out-of-Home Care (OOHC), including residential care, foster care, Supported Independent Living (SIL), Transitional SIL (TSIL), and those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
We understand the challenges that care teams and foster carers face when trying to meet the complex and diverse needs of each young person. With limited time and high demands, it’s not always possible to provide consistent one-on-one support and that’s where YLYS comes in.
Our goal is to complement the existing care environment by offering individualised, consistent mentoring that helps young people feel seen, supported, and empowered. We take pride in being a trusted presence that young people can rely on someone they can talk to, learn from, and grow with.
Through our mentoring, we provide safe spaces to explore important and often overlooked topics such as:
We also work in collaboration with local youth employment, training, and education services to help young people set goals and take steps toward a brighter, more independent future.
At YLYS, we believe that every young person deserves to be heard, valued, and equipped with the tools to thrive , no matter their background or circumstances. Our mentors are committed to walking alongside young people, helping them navigate life’s challenges while building trust, resilience, and real-world skills.
We're here to be the extra support system, not to replace the care team, but to strengthen it.

Our mentoring services provide flexible, holistic, and wrap-around support tailored to each participant’s individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Every mentoring journey is centred on empowerment, consistency, and meaningful connection, ensuring participants feel heard, supported, and inspired to grow.

We facilitate safe, supervised contact between children, young people, and non-custodial parents or family members. Our highly trained youth and support workers carefully monitor and document each visit, ensuring all interactions meet the highest child-safety standards.
