Support Worker Requirements – Young Leaders Youth Services
To join our team as a youth mentor or support worker, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Mandatory Checks & Clearances:
Working With Children Check (WWCC) – Valid and verified for NSW
NDIS Worker Screening Check – Required for all roles under the NDIS
National Police Check – Current and clear (issued within the last 12 months)
Qualifications (Any of the following or equivalent):
Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Youth Work, or Individual Support
Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, or Social Work
Other relevant experience or qualifications in working with young people, disability services, or mental health support
Additional Desirable Skills:
First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Cultural competency, particularly working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Lived experience or peer work background
Strong communication, empathy, and conflict resolution skills
Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle (if transport is required)
